Detect When Your Washing Machine or Dryer Is Finished

A major benefit of smart plugs with energy monitoring is that you can use them to find out when devices that use a lot of energy have stopped running and then have an alert sent to your phone.

Plug the machine into a Smart Plug and then set an automation which monitors the power consumption of the washing machine - during the wash cycle it will use more energy than in its finished state so when the energy consumption level fall to zero then send a message to your phone to let you know. You can use a simple notification or subscribe to a phone or text service if you prefer.
