What Are

the Basics...

...

A Smart system is a network of interconnected devices that communicate with each other to provide automated and remote control over household functions. These systems rely on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or Z-Wave protocols to connect various devices, ensuring seamless operation.

Automation

There are several ways to approach automation

1 - Sensors : Human presense sensors recognise when a room is occupied or empty allowing  automation of tasks, such as turning lights on or off. They are incrediby senstive and unlike PIR sensors, will not switch off if you are sitting still.

2 - Time or environment - create routines to control any item based on conditions such as time, sunrise, sunset, or temperature

3 - Voice Control

With the rise of voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple’s Siri, controlling smart home devices has never been easier. Users can issue voice commands to play music, adjust lighting, or even set the temperature without lifting a finger.

You can use any or all of thses approachs for example you may wish to use presense sensors in kitchens or bathroom whilst for outdoor lighting tie based on sunrise and sunset times control may be better.

Remote Access & Control

Through smartphone applications, users can monitor and control their smart devices from anywhere. This includes checking security camera footage, adjusting room temperature, or even starting kitchen appliances remotely.
